Reminder

Stephenson Middle School's last day of school for students will be on 5/15/2020 this year. Chromebooks For grades 6th-12th grades only. In order to be considered for a device, the parent/guardian must contact the IT Help Desk at 678-676-1188 for assistance with a district-issued Chromebook. William Bradley Bryant Center is closed to the public except by appointments, which are made when the IT Help Desk is called. Help Desk tickets and appointments are required to assist with receiving and replacing a broken or damaged Chromebook or issuing a new Chromebook.
Free Online Graphic Novels
Because of the rain, it will be a good day to read. Check out some of these online, free graphic novels. The selections include, among many others: Homestuck Andrew Hussie’s wildly popular webcomic follows John Egbert, who on his 13th birthday plays a video game that unleashes the apocalypse. Available in print from Viz Media. Scared by the Bell Though being the new kid is never easy, it’s especially hard for Peter, an average kid whose classmates include a mummy, a pumpkinhead, and a skeleton. Creator Dylan Campbell updates this hilariously creepy webcomic every week. Bird and Moon—Science and Nature Comics Whether naturalist and science writer Rosemary Mosco is describing how to distinguish a dolphin from a porpoise, offering improvements on bird species (like hummingbirds that are 10,000% bigger), or urging readers to join the fight against climate change, her abiding passion for the natural world comes through loud and clear in this delightfully quirky webcomic. www.slj.com/?detailStory=webcomics-teens-tweens-free-middle-grade-YA

Jason Reynolds, author of All American Boys, Ghost, Long Way Down, etc., has started a new “GRAB THE MIC: Tell Your Story” video series! The “Write. Right. Rite.” is meant to be an entertaining and inventive way to engage with the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Jason Reynolds.According to Reynolds, the “Write. Right. Rite.” is all about learning the ritual of “authentic”—not to be confused with “correct” or “exact”—expression. Throughout the series, he will share his passion for storytelling while discussing topics like creativity, connection, and imagination. At the end of each video, Reynolds will share a prompt that encourages young people to work toward a specific idea. The activities are fun-filled and some are more challenging than others, but Reynolds always makes sure to include brainstorming “get-you-going” questions.
He does a new video every Tuesday & Thursday @ 10:30 a.m. Tune in. Write something. Share it via email with me, Ms. OConnor (email address to the right), if you would like to have it published in our Daily News. If not, show me what you have been writing when we get back to school through "Write. Right. Rite", and I will have a free book for you. You can find his videos at Library of Congress: https://guides.loc.gov/jason-reynolds/grab-the-mic/wrr Read. Write. Relax. Log in to Verge. Let us know how you are. We miss you! See you tomorrow.
