Reminder
DeKalb County School buildings are closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Virtual learning continues, though our buildings are closed! Stephenson Middle School's last day of school for students will be on 5/15/2020 this year.
Chromebooks
For grades 6th-12th grades only. In order to be considered for a device, the parent/guardian must contact the IT Help Desk at 678-676-1188 for assistance with a district-issued Chromebook. William Bradley Bryant Center is closed to the public except by appointments, which are made when the IT Help Desk is called. Help Desk tickets and appointments are required to assist with receiving and replacing a broken or damaged Chromebook or issuing a new Chromebook.
Grab & Go Lunches:
Today, Friday, 4/24/2020, please come to SMS, and get your 2-lunch packs for today and tomorrow during Grab & Go from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Virtual Students of the Week If your name was listed as a Virtual Student of the Week for the week of 4/13 to 4/17/2020 in our Wednesday, 4/22, edition of the Daily News, and you have not come up to get your prize yet, please come to Grab & Go Lunch today, Friday, 4/24/2020, here at Stephenson Middle, and pick up your certificate from 10:00 a.m. to noon. (Check for your name by clicking on the "previous" link at the bottom of the newsletter. Keep clicking "previous" until you reach the 4/22 edition.)
Free e-Resource: The Spanish Experiment
Learning to speak Spanish? Check out their free Spanish lessons and their children's stories in Spanish (Good for adults too!). This site is really fun and made me laugh out loud. The stories are told with a sense of humor - Pollito Tito (Chicken Little) is about what happens when a completely normal chicken believes everything he reads on the internet? Haiku Contest/Submissions
International Haiku Poetry Day was April 17 & April is National Poetry Month Write your own haiku poem following the rules below. Submit this Google form by 4/30/2020. Your haiku may be chosen to appear in our Jaguar Junction Daily News and when you get back to school, you will receive a prize from the media center. Dr. Booker's Weekly Book Club
Welcome to our SMS Virtual Book Club! From 4/20-4/24/2020, we will be reading When I Was Eight by Christy Jordan-Fenton & Margaret Pokiak-Fenton, which is available on the free TumbleBookLibrary e-book site. When you finish reading this touching and inspiring story about a girl at a boarding school far from home - trapped in a hostile environment, complete the Google form in order to participate in our book club. When you return to school, there will be a sweet treat waiting for you for each book club form you completed. City Nature Challenge 2020 - 4/24 to 4/27/2020
Fernbank Museum is a sponsor of the City Nature Challenge 2020, which is a fun family activity. "Atlanta is joining a global initiative to encourage individuals and families to document species of plants, animals and fungi found in nature using the iNaturalist app. The Atlanta City Nature Challenge’s goal is to connect people to nature and help give valuable insight into what species call Atlanta home."

Try "Why Do Humans Have a Third Eyelid?" (They do.) Or "The Mysterious Life and Death of Rasputin (Russian revolution...my sons were fascinated with Rasputin.)
